• Confirm an allergic reaction
• Respond to the situation
• Provide appropriate first aid treatment for anaphylactic reaction
• Communicate details of the incident
• Evaluate response to the anaphylaxis incident
• Develop individual anaphylaxis management plans
• Implement strategies to prevent allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis
• Develop a communication plan to raise awareness of allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis

• Identify the triggers, signs and symptoms of allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis.
• Develop risk management and risk minimisation strategies for anaphylaxis.
  This includes the development and implementation of pre-emergency risk assessment/management and the development of individual anaphylaxis management plans.
• Provide an emergency first aid response to an individual experiencing anaphylaxis, until the arrival of medical assistance. This includes standard first aid procedures and the specific skills and knowledge to administer adrenaline using an adrenaline autoinjector.

• Two (2) weeks prior to the face to face day the student will be provided with a learner workbook. The student is expected to read and complete the tasks prior to the face to face day. This activity is deemed to be learning only, not assessment.
• Face to face training and assessment day. Duration 3-4 hours.
• Ongoing communication with the trainer and assessor
• Ongoing student support provided by the trainer and assessor

• Have literacy and numeracy competencies equivalent to the Australian Core Skills Framework Level 2. An example of an ACSF Level 2 competency is being able to read and comprehend the ASCIA Action Plan for Anaphylaxis, request appropriate emergency assistance at the scene of the incident and complete incident reports.
• it is recommended that entrants have current competency in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

On successful completion of the enrolment process, students will undergo an induction program including:

• Introduction to Australian Institute of Leadership and Safety training staff
• Confirmation of the course being delivered.
• The training and assessment procedures including method, format and purpose of.
• assessment
• Qualifications to be issued
• Student handbook provided

• Assessment is competency based
• The student’s performance is assessed on satisfactory completion of the required online test and face-to-face workshops assessment activities

Online and telephone support is available throughout the duration of the course.

It is Australian Institute of Leadership and Safety’s policy that the course fee will be all-inclusive.

Students will not be ‘surprised’ by unexpected requirements, fees or expenses.
